Hello all! You’ve probably wondered how I fared with my Cricut Design Studio installation on my new computer. Well, I’m happy to say that it was a success and DS works great with Windows 8! It’s worked so well that in the last two days I’ve created 7 projects! I can’t share them with you yet because they are for family members who watch this blog ;). I made a couple of items for my sister’s upcoming birthday and some items for my mother and mother-in-law for Mother’s Day which is coming up quick! I’ll be able to post some of the items on Monday and then the rest will have to wait til the following Monday. I can hint that I thoroughly explored the Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More 2 cartridge using many of its features. More details on that soon. I also made an item from the Fancy Frames cartridge. And I had a lot of fun using Dear Lizzy embellishments and paper I received from Northridge Publishing during their 30 Days of Holiday Giveaways. I can’t wait to share these projects with you because I used a mixture of Cricut cuts with ephemera which is not really in my comfort zone yet. Sometimes I get tunnel-visioned and think that everything has to be a Cricut cut other than some buttons and ribbon. I’m starting to like using these handy embellishments because there’s not so much cutting to do to finish a card. 🙂
I also wanted to let you know of a handy resource I found on Cricut.com. Did you know they offer “live help” so you don’t have to sit on the phone waiting for Customer Service? I was able to get my DS software activated on my new computer in less than a literal minute. It was so quick and easy I couldn’t believe it! I’ve only been able to find this tool by logging into my Cricut.com account. When I log out of Cricut.com, I can’t access my account to see the Live Help link. So this may only be available to registered users, but creating an account is free and available to anyone. Their “live help” is available Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm MT. If you create an account and you’re logged in, just click on your name near the upper right of the screen. This will open up your “account” and should land you on the “General Information” screen. Near the bottom of the screen should be a greenish rectangle for “Live Help”. If you click on this box, it will open a chat window with a customer service representative.
I’m off to take some pictures of my projects! I look forward to when I can post them! They are girly with fun, bright colors! They make me smile! 🙂
I tried out some new paper I received from Northridge Publishing’s Christmas giveaway. The floral paper is from American Crafts’ Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic! I love how pretty this paper is! This was my starting point for a birthday card for my dear mother-in-law! It went really well with the Recollections Preppy Beach cardstock my sister gave me for my birthday!
The cupcake is from Cricut’s Straight from the Nest cartridge cut at 4 inches. I ran the cupcake icing through my D’vine Swirls embossing folder. I then took a Versamark pad and rubbed it on the embossed swirls for a bit of definition. I used Liquid Pearls for the sprinkles. The cupcake is finished off with a bit of Dear Lizzy ribbon. My MIL loves all kinds of music and I thought this ribbon added a nice touch.
The envelope and liner are cut from Wild Card (doily blackout) at 5 inches. The inside stamped sentiment is from Fiskars All Year Greetings.
Hello all! Sorry for the long hiatus. It seems this always happens after Christmas until I feel refreshed again! My husband got me some awesome crafting items for Christmas, including a new Cricut cartridge – Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More 2 (TBBM2)! Here is a pumpkin gift bag I made. I haven’t embellished it yet but thought I would show how it looks after cutting and assembling.
I plan on making the tea cup next. Hubby also bought me the scoring tip and my lovely sister and brother-in-law gave me the Cricut gel pens for my birthday to print the card phrases from TBBM2! They also got me a nice selection of stamps, Martha Stewart punches, and paper!!! I feel a bit spoiled! I can’t wait to dig into these items and start crafting again!
On top of this, I won a giveaway through Northridge Publishing’s “30 Days of Holiday Giveaways”. The box of goodies came a week after Christmas! I had never one a prize before so this is quite exciting! Northridge Publishing banded together with Provo Craft to create Cricut Magazine. I became a follower of Northridge Publishing’s Create blog a few months ago because they have card challenges and giveaways throughout the year. During December, they hosted their 30 Days of Holiday Giveaways where you can enter each day’s giveaway by leaving a comment. This particular prize package was hosted by American Crafts and included paper and embellishments from their different lines: Dear Lizzy ‘5th & Frolic’ (my favorite), Pebbles ‘Seen & Noted’, Crate Paper ‘On Trend’, Studio Calico ‘Darling Dear’, and a few embellishments from ‘Yearbook’. Here are pictures of the goodies that arrived. The items were separated by their design lines in 4 big “zip loc” bags.
Even though the 30 Days of Holiday Giveaways is over, there are still other giveaways they host each week. And with their new monthly Cards Blog Challenge, there are more opportunities to win some lovely scrapbooking and card supplies! I am not a paid endorser of their site, just a fan 🙂 and I just wanted to share this with others so you too can win. It would be exciting to hear of blog followers winning their own goodies and seeing what you make!
