Hello all! Sorry I’ve been away for a bit! I have a project to share with you – my first handmade box filled with a set of 3×3 note cards. I made this for my sister so that she could write notes to her hubby or her friends at work. The only Cricut cuts used were for the envelopes and the great thing about this particular envelope is that it cuts a slit to tuck the flap in – which means you don’t have to apply adhesive. This makes it great on the recipient unless you invest in “Lick & Stick” which is a remoistenable envelope glue. The envelope is found on page 72 or key #49 on the “Just Because Cards” cartridge. I cut it at 3 inches which makes a 3×3 square envelope perfect for mini notes.
To make the note card, cut cardstock at 6 inches long by 3 inches tall and score/fold in half. I wanted to stamp some images on my note cards so I added some mats to build up the design. I cut a black mat at 2 x 3/4 inches and then added a top white mat at 2 x 1/2 inches. Each stamped image came from a “Martha Stewart Embossing Starter Kit” I got for Christmas a few years ago and the ink is from “Ink It Up!”. Since embossing works best while the ink is still wet, I stamped then embossed each card one at a time using clear embossing powder and a heat gun. The white card stock used for the note cards is from a $5 pack of 12×12 Colorbok cardstock bought at Wal-mart. The embossing worked great so I will be getting more of these Colorbok pads in the future.
The box measurements are compliments of Laurie Schmidlin’s tutorial on the Split Coast Stampers website. Laurie’s tutorial includes both written instructions and a video located here ~ 3″ x 3″ Notecard Box. The dimensions for this box easily held the eight note cards and eight envelopes I made in the set. I’m so tickled with how this box turned out and pleased that what I used to find intimidating is now fun and rewarding. I can’t wait to make more of these little boxes!

These notecards are so beautiful!!! I love them!!! I like that the envelopes have the tuck in, so they’re easy to close. The handmade box is just perfect. I’m sure your sister will love them!!! All the best ~Sophia

I love these envelopes too – it solved the problem of the recipient not being able to seal them if they didn’t have any adhesive tape. I never had any before I started making cards so I’m sure my family doesn’t have any either so this solved the problem. 🙂 I’ve been eyeing that “Lick & Stick” product in case I make other cards to give as a gift and then I could use any Cricut envelope.
